Gidi Gov - Biography
- Was born in Tel Aviv, Israel.
- His father died when he was seven. He and his family moved to Eilat.
- Quitted school at the age of 17.
- In 1968 joined the army.
- Served in the military band - the Nahal (Lahakat Hanahal).
- Sang songs and acted.
- In the band he met Alon Oleartchik, Danny Sanderson, Meir (Poogy) Fenigstein and Efraim Shamir.
- Participated in a songs festival with th song 'Ya'ale Ve'Yavo' and got to the last place.
- In 1973 he joined 'Kaveret'.
- The band was signed by Aberaham Deshe (Pashanel).
- On November 1973 the album 'Poogy Tales' was released.
- In 1974 'Kaveret' participated in the Eurovision contest with the song 'I Gave Her My Life'.
- The album 'Poogy In A Pitah' was released.
- In 1975 the album 'Crowded In The Ear' was released.
- In 1976 Kaveret moved to the USA and toured.
- Kaveret split up.
- In 1976 joined Yehudit Ravitz and Shmulik Bilu and together formed the band 'A Good Living' ('Parnasa Tova').
- In 1977 played in the film 'Paratroopers'.
- Married his girlfriend, Anat.
- In 1978 participated in the Kdam Eurovision contest with the song 'Shalosh BaLayla Ba'Ir'.
- Released his first album, called simply 'First Album'.
- He joined Yonny Rechter and Yehudit Ravitz for the making of 'The Sixteenth Lamb' album, written by Johnathan Geffen and mostly composed by Rechter.
- Played in the film 'The Band'.
- He joined the succesful TV show 'That's It'.
- In 1979 he founded the band 'Gazoz' with Danny Sanderson.
- 'Gazoz' released its first album, 'Nine O'Clock At The Circle'.
- Played in the film 'Dizengoff 99 Street'.
- 'Gazoz' released its second album, 'Second Round'.
- 'Gazoz' split up.
- In 1980 he and Danny Sanderson formed the band 'Doda' and releasd one album.
- In 1981 participated in a play in Haifa theatre.
- In 1983 released the album '40:06', named after its length.
- In 1984 'Kaveret' reunited again and toured.
- An album documenting that tour was released.
- In 1986 released the children album 'Tnu Ligdol Besheket'.
- In 1987 released the album 'Manners'.
- In 1990 played in Uri Barbash's film 'Where Eagles Fly' and in the play 'The Gigolo From Congo' ('Ha'Gigolo Mi'Congo).
- 'Kaveret' reunited for the last time. The show was called 'Kaveret Returns'.
- In 1991 released the album 'Not A Day Left', which became his most succesful album.
- A film called 'Kaveret - Pictures From The Band's Life' was made by Zvi Shissel.
- Played in a sitcom named 'Yes What?' on channel 1, created by his wife Anat.
- In November 1993 he left the show 'That's It' and started hosting a show called 'Laila Gov' on Channel 2.
- Released the album 'Scattered Songs', containing old songs, never released till then.
- The show 'Laila Gov' became a huge success and an album of song from the show was released.
- 'The Sixteenth Lamb' got togother on his show and performed the album's songs live for the very first time.
- In 1995 'Gazoz' appeared together on Danny Sanderson's show on channel 1.
- On November 12th, in a concert in honor of assassinated prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, all kaveret's members but Meir appeared together on stage and performed an acoustic version of 'Little Kingdom'.
- In 1997 hosted the '1997 Israeli Oscar Awards' show.
- In 1997 an official site was opened for the show 'Laila Gov' on the internet.
